Rising from a rich and diverse heritage, Ursulines today continue
the ancient expression of belonging to a religious community by the
public pronunciation of the vows of chastity, poverty and
obedience. Living with vows means living lives steeped
in the values and challenges of the Gospel. A longing
for the Divine and a deep desire to work together for the reign of
justice and compassion are at the heart of our
commitment. We are called to be prophets, risk-takers,
women passionate about justice, women in solidarity with the
marginalized. We commit ourselves to deep listening,
deep connecting, to diversity, mutuality and inclusivity as we join
the struggle for wholeness in all creation. To become a vowed
member involves entering into a discernment process with distinct
phases:
This is a time to deepen one's sense of God's action in one's
life. It is also a time to come to know and understand
the spirit and history of the Ursuline Community. For more
